D'erections: Get to exit 6 of I-66 (doesn't matter if you're coming from I-66 East or I-66 West). If you're coming from the East, turn left off of the exit toward Front Royal. If you're coming from the West, turn right off of the exit toward Front Royal. Go about a mile until you get to Strasburg Rd (VA-55). There will be a Seven-11 on your left at the intersection where you're supposed to turn. So, make a right onto Strasburg Rd. Go about 5 miles. Look for VA-678 (Fort Valley Rd). There will be a big cemetery on the left where you're supposed to turn. Make a left onto VA-678 (Fort Valley Rd). Go about 4.5 miles to the family campground. It will be on the left. Go about another 0.5 mile after the campground and look for a parking lot on the right. This is where trail will start.
Impotent Info: There is a campgroung about 1/4 mile from where trail begins. At the bottom is a link to the camping available in the Lee Ranger District.
PI factor is pretty low, but make sure to bring a dry bag. Aside from a couple small water snakes, I saw some nekkid people in the creek; we should be mostly safe There is no cell phone reception in this area, even for my kick ass phone. So if you're lost, well . . . let's hope you have a purty mouth, boy. If you plan to bring people under 21, just let me know so I can make sure to have plenty of non-adult beverages available.
